Susan Wasserman - Reviews Editor

Susan Wasserman, Reviews Editor at EVENT, has been an English Instructor specializing in Canadian literature for three decades, teaching contract courses at Douglas College, Kwantlen College and UBC until her regularization at Douglas in 1987.  Having recently joined the ranks of the happily retired, she is fascinated by: a) the fact that there really is life after teaching; and b) just how busy that life is.  EVENT has been one of the great loves of Susan’s professional life since 1993, when she began working with then Editor-in-Chief David Zieroth, who enlisted her as Reviews Editor, a position she has proudly held from that time to the present (with a hiatus from 2006 to 2009).  In 2006 she joined the Fiction Committee, so ably captained by Christine Dewar.  Susan plans to stay associated with this illustrious magazine for as long as it’s still a thrill.

Rob Hugues - Proofreader

Rob Hughes is EVENT’s Proofreader. He was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, and raised in Burnaby. A graduate of UBC and the Print Futures program at Douglas College, he developed his editing skills doing closed captioning for the hearing impaired, copy-editing a Toronto-based heavy metal magazine, and (with some trepidation) helping his wife complete her manuscripts. When not proofreading EVENT and working full-time as a technical writer, he volunteers for the Society for Technical Communication and the subTerrain Editorial Collective.
