Announcing EVENT’s 2024 Non-Fiction Contest Winners

EVENT is proud to announce our 2024 Non-Fiction Contest winner’s list! Judged by Michelle Cyca, this year’s contest saw 163 submissions.

And the winners are…

FIRST PLACE ($1,500):

  • ‘Predator, Prey,’ Hilary Fair, Clinton, ON

SECOND PLACE ($1000):

  • ‘The Remember Timeline,’ Stephanie Chou, Vancouver, BC

THIRD PLACE ($500):

  • ‘Witches of Silver Creek,’ Adèle Barclay, Vancouver, BC

Congratulations to all of the shortlisted writers, as well as our winners. The winning entries and judge’s essay will be published in issue 54/1 of EVENT, Spring/Summer 2025.

Our 2025 contest will open for submissions on April 1st, 2025 and run until October 25th, 2025. Submit your work here.
