Anna Ling Kaye (Ricepaper), Meghan Bell (Room), Michal Kozlowski (GEIST) and Shashi Bhat (EVENT) gather for a panel at WORD Vancouver.

Last weekend, literary enthusiasts from Vancouver and beyond attended WORD Vancouver’s annual festival. Dressed in fall layers and armed with stylish EVENT tote bags, they circled and invaded the VPL to hear readings, meet writers, and freshen up their book collections.

In the Magazine Words tent, EVENT presented fiction and poetry readings from contributors Adrick Brock and Alessandra Naccarato. Our editor participated in a panel with editors from Room Magazine, Ricepaper and GEIST to discuss how literary journals can adapt to a changing world. Those lucky enough to catch a seat on the poetry bus listened to performances by a thrilling range of poets, including EVENT advisory board member Amber Dawn.

Festival attendees who stopped by our EVENT table were rewarded with $2 back issues, 25% off subscriptions, smiling editors and secret insider tips on how to get published. Just kidding, there were no secret insider tips.
