CONTEST DEADLINE EXTENDED!

You now have until APRIL 30 to submit your best non-fiction stories to EVENT’s annual Non-Fiction Contest. Riches and glory await the winners. Have you sent us your story yet?

We want to hear your best true stories. Tell us about your worst vacations and your favourite funerals. Make us laugh, cry or anything in between. Do it in 5,000 words or less, and get it to us by April 30th. Easy, right? Winners are eligible for $1500 in prize money.

What happens to entries for EVENT’s non-fiction contest?

Entries are numbered, recorded in a database and stripped of the author’s name. Then, entries go to a team of EVENT editors, who read, gush, and argue until they can agree on a shortlist. The shortlisted entries are sent to our celebrity judge (this year it’s Andrew Westoll), who decides on the winners. Winners appear in the winter issue of EVENT (January 2016). We may also publish beloved but non-winning entries at our usual publication rates.

How does one enter a story?

This year we’ve made it easier than ever. Check out the details on our contest page.
